Statements such as, I am creative or I feel proud are indicators of a positive sense of self-esteem. Moreover, s
elf esteem can apply to a specific dimension of one's life (such as I am a good writer) or have global application (I believe I am a good person).

Behavior may reflect self-esteem.  Aggressiveness and timid-ness often indicate excessive or low self-esteem, respectively, while confidence and appropriateness indicate healthy and positive self-esteem.

Other names (synonyms or near-synonyms) of self-esteem include:

·         self-worth

·         self-regard

Finally, true self esteem comes from deep within one's self and is not contingent on being better than others or on inflating one's sense of worth relative to others.  True self-esteem just IS!  I invite you to read more about Eckhart Tolle & Oprah's conversation about true self esteem.
